Lisa DeCarlo, Acting Chief Counsel, California Energy Commission

Lisa DeCarlo is the acting chief counsel for the California Energy Commission. The Chief Counsel's Office is a full-service legal office that advises the Energy Commission on a range of issues. It helps to support the agency in its efforts to lead the state to a 100 percent clean energy future for all.

She has filled a number of roles in the legal office since joining the Energy Commission in 1999. Her most recent role was as assistant chief counsel for the Hearing and Advisory Unit.

A lifelong environmentalist, she earned a bachelor of arts in environmental analysis and design from the University of California, Irvine and a juris doctor from the George Washington University School of Law. DeCarlo has served as on the board for various nonprofit organizations including RedRover, California ReLeaf, Cats About Town Society, and Sacramento Small Equine Adventures.

Born and raised in California, she enjoys reading, visiting used bookstores and book festivals, volunteering, hiking, camping, and traveling with her family.
