Notice of Efficiency Committee Public Hearing
The California Energy Commission ("Energy Commission") proposes to amend its appliance efficiency regulations to repeal the appliance efficiency standards for Digital Television Adapters (DTAs) in title 20 of the California Code of Regulations. Existing law [Public Resources Code § 25402(c)] requires the Energy Commission to adopt regulations that prescribe minimum efficiency levels for appliances. Existing appliance efficiency regulations include efficiency standards for digital television adapters (DTAs), which are commercially-available electronic products which convert digital video terrestrial broadcast signals to analog video signals for use by a television or VCR. The Energy Commission is now proposing to repeal the energy efficiency standards for DTAs due to take effect January 1, 2008 deferring to federal standards adopted by the National Telecommunications Infrastructure Administration for DTAs which will result in slightly more energy savings. The Energy Commission has given Notice of Proposed Action (NOPA) and the Energy Commission's Energy Efficiency Committee, Chairman Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, Presiding Member, and Commissioner Arthur H. Rosenfeld, Associate Member, will hold a public hearing on the following date to receive public comment.
