California Energy Commission Appliances Database

Appliances Database

("Zipped" Microsoft Excel files)

Attention: Last update
April 2, 2008.
Please look inside folder
for current file date.

The Appliances Database files contain all appliances currently certified to the California Energy Commission by their manufacturers as meeting currently-applicable efficiency standards. Appliances shown in these spreadsheets either meet federal efficiency standards or, where there are no federal efficiency standards, meet California Energy Commission efficiency standards.

When a new standard takes effect, models meeting the previous standard will continue to be shown for 90 days. In addition, for some appliances, the Energy Commission requires data submittal where there are no federal or state efficiency standards; the spreadsheets also list all currently-certified models of those appliances.

Please note that the Energy Commission maintains another database for appliances that do not meet current efficiency standards but were certified as meeting earlier, less stringent efficiency standards. Appliances manufactured prior to the effective date of the current efficiency standards may still be sold or offered for sale if they were certified as meeting the standard in effect on the date the model was manufactured. Historical data for some appliances can be found here. If you would like information about other historical appliance data, please contact Appliance Program staff at: appliances@energy.state.ca.us.
