Notice of Commission Adoption Hearing
The Energy Commission will conduct a public hearing to adopt proposed amendments to the Appliance Efficiency Regulations for Digital Television Adapters. The hearing will be held as part of the Energy Commission's Business Meeting scheduled for:
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2006
Audio from this meeting will be broadcast over the Internet.
At the hearing any person may present written or oral comments on the proposed amendments and additional documents relied upon.
On February 27, 2006, the Energy Commission published a Notice of Proposed Action (NOPA) concerning the potential adoption of proposed amendments to the Appliance Efficiency Regulations (45-Day Language). The NOPA and the 45-Day Language were posted on the Energy Commission website on February 28, 2006. The NOPA designated April 12, 2006, as the date for consideration of adoption. The first public hearing listed on the NOPA, with the Energy Commission's Efficiency Committee (Chairman Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, Presiding Member), was held on March 27, 2006. Information about this hearing is available on the Energy Commission website at:
On April 12, 2006, the Efficiency Committee recommended, and the Energy Commission agreed not to adopt, the 45-Day Language, but rather to issue a revised proposal (15-Day Language), for consideration at a hearing on May 24, 2006.
The 15-Day Language was adopted at the May 24, 2006 Business Meeting. Due to the timing constraints of making changes to the Standards for External Power Supplies, the 15-Day Language adopted on May 24, 2006 dealt only with External Power Supply issues and did not incorporate any of the changes dealing with Digital Television Adapters (DTAs) that had been proposed in the 45-Day Language. The 15-Day language that is the subject of this notice deals solely with DTAs.
Proposed 15-Day Language
The proposed amendments to the Appliance Efficiency Regulations (15-Day Language) are available on the Energy Commission website under "2006 Appliance Rulemaking 2" at:
The changes being proposed in this 15-Day Language include delaying the effective date of the standards for DTAs from January 1, 2007 to January 1, 2008.
