Notice of Showerhead Performance Implications
for Water and Energy Use Meeting

The California Energy Commission Staff and the California Urban Water Conservation Council will jointly conduct a public meeting to exchange ideas about showerhead performance implications for water and energy use, to be held:

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2005
10:00 a.m.
CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION
1516 Ninth Street
Hearing Room A
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Background

The California Energy Commission staff and the California Urban Water Conservation Council have for many years conducted programs designed to conserve water and the related energy use throughout California. It has become apparent that:

(1) Showerheads are currently being offered for sale in California that use considerably more water than is allowed by US federal standards, or are sold in combinations that result in water use and energy use that exceed federal standards.

(2) Higher efficiency showerheads are currently available.

Both agencies are interested in obtaining additional information about this issue, and to discuss what should be done about inefficient showerheads.

The meeting agenda will include: performance testing results on current showerheads, current market trends and potential loss of savings, higher efficiency showerheads, and a panel discussion on what should be done about showerheads. There will also be time for attendee participation.
