The California Energy Commission is pleased to announce its support for CALSTART's upcoming 2020: California's Transportation Energy Future conference.
This conference will take place on December 2nd, 2004 in Los Angeles. It will be a single-day gathering of distinguished policy makers, industry representatives, environmentalists, academics, and others that will focus on ways to reduce California's petroleum consumption by 15 percent and increase its use of alternative fuels to 20 percent by 2020.
The invited and confirmed speakers include California Secretary of the EPA Terry Tamminen, Assembly member Christine Kehoe, Commissioner of the California Energy Commission James D. Boyd, former SAE President and current Vice President of Advanced Technology for Honeywell Turbo Technologies Dr. SM Shahed, Senior Fellow at Environmental Defense John DeCicco, and President of H2Gen Innovations Sandy Thomas, as well as many others. These distinguish guests and others from the academic, environmental, political, and automotive communities will present the need, technologies, methods, and policies for reducing California's petroleum consumption and moving the state towards the 2020 goals.
CALSTART will also use the occasion to present its prestigious "Blue Sky" Awards during a luncheon. These awards recognize outstanding efforts to address state, national, and international clean air goals. This year's winners include New Flyer of America, California Assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, and the innovative director of fleet services, Florida Power & Light Company George Survant. Combined with the conference and its roster of diverse speakers and attendees, it will truly be a day not to be missed.
