Purpose:
Funded through California Climate Investments, REAP is being designed to advance the on-site use of renewable energy in agricultural operations in California with an emphasis on programs serving disadvantaged and low income communities.

Background
Assembly Bill 109 (Ting, Budget Act of 2017, Chapter 249, Statutes of 2017) provided $6 million of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund monies to the Energy Commission to support renewable energy projects in the agriculture sector to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To implement these efforts, the Energy Commission is developing REAP as a competitive grant program to support the installation of on-site renewable energy projects to serve agricultural operations located in California. The program will emphasize projects in disadvantaged communities and low income communities and is envisioned to foster projects with co-benefits serving the local community, benefiting public health and reducing air pollution.
