California Energy Commission staff will conduct a workshop to develop consensus on applications of a hydrogen refueling station capacity model (HyC) to be used when determining the station’s daily dispensing capacity number. The capacity number may be considered as input to the California Energy Commission draft solicitation concepts and by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in their Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) calculations.

The HyC calculates the daily dispensing capacity of a hydrogen refueling station used to fill fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). HyC determines station capacity with specified demand scenarios. HyC inputs potentially include: station storage volumes, station configurations and pressures, compressor performance, vehicle demand, and production and delivery methods for hydrogen refueling stations. The workshop participants will review HyC, discuss the results of test cases generated from the HyC, and work toward consensus of a hydrogen refueling station verification method.
