The California Energy Commission offers professional entry-level positions for college graduates. Our three entry-level classes are, Energy Analyst, Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer.
Energy Analyst examination accepts degrees in the areas of ecology, energy, environmental science, economics, statistics, planning, land use, engineering, geology, physical or biological science, operations research, or a closely related field.
Mechanical Engineer exam accepts degrees in mechanical engineering accredited by the Engineers' Council for Professional Development, or equivalent qualifications. (Registration as a senior in such a curriculum will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)
Or Possession of equivalent qualifications may be demonstrated by qualifying in a written examination covering basic mechanical engineering and by graduation from an engineering curriculum which includes the engineering courses normally included in a standard four-year course in mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
Electrical Engineer exam accepts degrees in electrical or electronic engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, or equivalent qualifications. (Registration as a senior in such a curriculum will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation before they can be considered eligible for appointment.)
Or Possession of equivalent qualifications which may be demonstrated by qualifying in a written examination covering basic electrical engineering and by graduation from college in a curriculum which includes the courses normally included in a standard four-year course either in electrical or electronics engineering. (Registration as a senior in such a curriculum will admit applicants to the qualifying written examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation before they can be considered eligible for appointment.)

If you are enrolled in a college or university you should consider working at the Energy Commission. The Energy Commission offers a variety of energy related fields for students to work in and gain experience and knowledge to assist them in their career goals.
The Energy Commission contracts with the California State University Sacramento (CSUS) - University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) to hire students from local campuses. The contract provides supervisors and managers the opportunity to hire college/university students to assist with projects and is a recruitment source for potential employees at the Energy Commission.

Legal Internship, Fellowship, and Volunteer Opportunities
The Chief Counsel's Office accepts applications throughout the year for full-time, paid summer internships, credit internships during the school year that support a minimum of 16 hours of work per week, and post-bar exam volunteer or stipend opportunities.
