Apprentice & Journeymen Training Trust Fund
of the Southern California Plumbing & Piping Industry (P&P Trust)
Type of organization: A joint labor-management committee representing the plumbing and pipefitting industry throughout Southern California.
Type of training: Upgrading the skills of incumbent workers in jobs that reduce energy or water use in the building trades.
Area served: Los Angeles, Kern, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Bernardino, and San Diego.
Location of training: Possible training locations are Compton and Gardena (Los Angeles County); Bakersfield (Kern County); San Luis Obispo (San Luis Obispo County); Buellton (Santa Barbara County); Oxnard (Ventura County); Colton (San Bernardino County); and San Diego (San Diego County).
Estimated trainees: 800
Instruction details:
- A 32-hour training and accreditation course in Environmental and Technical issues developed by GreenPlumbers®USA with five modules
- A 24-hour Green Mechanical Systems: Awareness of Fundamental and Emerging Green Technologies course with a certification from the National Inspection Testing and Certification Corp.
Result of classes: Contractors seeking certification as green plumbers under GreenPlumbers®USA are required to hire workers trained through the program.
More about the organization: The P&P Trust, founded in 1959, operates eight training centers for the plumbing and pipefitting industry in Southern California. The plumbing and pipe trades are being changed by new technology and new production demands, including demands for fluency in green processes and products.
