Instruction details: This industry-recognized training for new hires and incumbent workers will cover off-grid systems and Solar Thermal installations. It will provide the necessary skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on new and existing systems. For the Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal training, trainees will receive an average of 40 classroom/laboratory hours and an average of 60 productive laboratory hours. Sales training will be provided.
Result of classes: After classes, trainees should be prepared to take the North American Board of Certified Energy Practioners (NABCEP) entry-level exam and the NABCEP Photovoltaic Installer exam. Trainees will also receive a certification of completion for the Solar Thermal training from Solar Energy International. Trainees receiving the sales training will receive certification from SunPower Corporation.
More about the organization: Established in 1994, Mendocino Solar designs, installs, and services solar systems for homes and businesses in western Mendocino County. Mendocino Solar also offers straight grid-tied, which connects directly to the local power company; off-grid, which connects solar panels to a battery bank for storage; solar water pumps; solar thermal for domestic hot water and heating; and solar power gates. A significant portion of its business involves servicing and upgrading existing, older solar electric systems.
