Instruction details: This multiple-employer project will retrain employees of companies involved in green manufacturing, green construction, transmission of renewable energy, and reduction of energy and water usage. The curriculum will offer job specific training in photovoltaic system installation, water efficient building and retrofits, and advanced computer skills needed to calculate PV system requirements. In addition, the curriculum will cover introduction to the principles of ecology and environmental sustainability. Training will also address some of the core skills that employers have indicated they need in their workforce including: contextualized math and proposal writing; technical communication; analysis; computers and networks; and basic energy technology and systems.
Result of classes: Trainees will receive from 24 to 200 hours of curriculum at Santa Monica Community College campuses and at employer worksites.
