Green Building Classes:
Shasta Tehama Trinity Joint Community College District
Type of organization: Community College.
Type of training: Occupational training in utility scale wind-generation and residential photovoltaic technology.
Area served: Shasta, Tehama and Trinity Counties.
Location of training: Shasta College, Redding, and Red Bluff.
Estimated trainees: 63
Instruction details: This training provides occupational skills in utility scale wind-generation technology and residential photovoltaic technology for workers in the construction industry. The utility scale wind generation program specifically teaches the skills identified by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) as important for a Utility Scale Wind Technician. The Residential Photovoltaic program includes all objectives identified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and hands-on installation training.
Result of classes: AWEA does not yet offer certification but the district is continuing to work closely with them so the program addresses the skill set they have identified as necessary for a Utility-Scale Wind Technician. Successful completion of the Residential Photovoltaic Technology program allows the student to sit for the NABCEP Entry-Level test.
More about the organization: Within the Tri-County College District, Shasta College is an accredited California Community College and is a local area government unit operating as a school district.
