Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program
Within the California Energy Commission, the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program is supporting the development and deployment of alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help reduce California's dependence on foreign oil. In addition to funding alternative fuel and vehicle projects, the Program also funds workforce training to the prepare the workforce required to design, construct, install, operate, produce, service, and maintain those new fuels and vehicles.
The Energy Commission has allocated over $16 million to train workers for long-term employment in the alternative fuel and vehicle market. The Program has awarded eight (8) six grants to some of the state's leading workforce training agencies.
