Rob Cook - Deputy Director
Administrative and Financial Services Division

Rob Cook serves as the deputy director over the Administrative and Financial Services Division for the Energy Commission. In this role, Mr. Cook oversees accounting, budgets, business services, contracting, human resources, and information technology.

Mr. Cook formerly served as chief operating officer for the Department of State Hospitals, deputy director for interagency support at the Department of General Services (DGS), and executive officer for the State Allocation Board (SAB).

At DGS, Mr. Cook executed two consecutive executive orders downsizing the state vehicle fleet by more than 11,000 vehicles and reducing the use of take-home vehicles by more than 5,300. At the SAB, he allocated more than $6.7 billion for school construction and modernization projects in 2-1/2 years and implemented grant programs for high-performance schools, career technical education, and seismic safety.

Mr. Cook earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Davis, and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is nearly an empty-nester father of three and lives with his wife, Lori, in Elk Grove. Mr. Cook is an avid outdoorsman and is always plotting another opportunity to get out on a trail.
