Demand Reduction Program

An important response to any energy emergency is to reduce energy use. Possible actions that could be taken during a transportation fuel emergency, for example, include increased use of rideshare programs, public transit services, and bicycles, as well as encouraging flexible work schedules and telecommuting.

The Energy Commission's Consumer Energy Center contains information on these and other possible measures that may be recommended during an energy emergency as well as preventative actions consumers can take to help conserve energy and reduce energy bills. Additional information can also be obtained at California's Flex Your Power website.
