NOTICE OF PROPOSED AWARDS
Geothermal Program Solicitation
Date: May 1, 2008

In September 2007, the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) Geothermal Program released a Program Opportunity Notice (Notice) to announce a new solicitation for geothermal projects. Up to $5.8 million was estimated to be available from the Geothermal Resources Development Account (GRDA) to fund GRDA projects as grants or loans that relate to geothermal research, development and demonstration, geothermal planning, or environmental mitigation. Disbursement of the full amount is contingent upon verification of budget authority.

In accordance with the Geothermal Program 2007 Application Manual for the Geothermal Resources Development Account (GRDA) Program Solicitation, each final application was screened for completeness and reviewed by Energy Commission staff. Then, the Energy Commission's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) reviewed, evaluated, and scored completed final applications submitted in response to the solicitation using the criteria prescribed in the Program regulations. Based on the TAC's evaluation scores and suggested conditions on funding, the Energy Commission's Research, Development and Demonstration Committee (RD&D Committee) has made its proposed funding recommendations for this Program solicitation. This Notice of Proposed Awards is hereby issued pursuant to those recommendations.

The attached Table 1, "Committee Funding Recommendations" identifies each of the applicants selected to receive funding, the project title, the type of project, the amount of recommended funding by the RD&D Committee, and scoring information. All projects are to be funded through grants. Funding cannot exceed the specified amount for each project and may be reduced if the full amount is not available. Total GRDA funding of $5,726,047 is currently available for all awards. Funding of GRDA projects is contingent upon the Energy Commission's receiving the projected GRDA revenues and the authority to expend those revenues for fiscal years 2007/08 and 2008/09. Projects shall be funded in the order of ranking beginning with rank 1. This notice is being mailed to all parties who submitted a final application to the solicitation and the notice is also posted on the Internet as follows: www.energy.ca.gov/geothermal.

The full Commission will consider the RD&D Committee's recommendations on approval of GRDA awards during a publicly noticed Business Meeting at the Energy Commission in Sacramento, California scheduled for the May 21, 2008.

Persons wishing further information about this matter may contact John Hingtgen at (916) 651-9106.
