    Energy Storage / UPS Systems

    | Applications | Performance | Cost | Strengths & Weaknesses | Future Development | Vendors |

UPS systems are most popular for critical equipment such as medical, telecommunications, and data processing. The cost of a complete UPS system can range from $200/kVA - $1500/kVA.

UPS maintenance costs include battery, capacitor and rectifier replacements. Battery costs alone can represent up to 60-70% of the complete UPS system cost. Battery replacement frequency depends on how deeply the batteries have been depleted and how quickly the current is drawn from the batteries during the depletion. Typically, batteries are replaced every 5-7 years.
