    Overview

The US Postal Service needed a cost-effective solution to operate more efficiently and reduce expensive peak power charges. They also needed to respond to an Executive Order that called for federal facilities to reduce energy consumption by 30%. They chose to implement a solution that included on-site renewable generation along with demand control measures. The DG portion is a 127 kW solar electric system mounted on top of the Marina del Rey building. The PV surface area is 15,000 square feet and produces 150,000 kWh/year. The system is comprised of 845 individual PV panels each with a rated output of 150 watts.
