Hearing Room A

Several months ago, the Energy Commission's Environmental and Energy Infrastructure and Licensing Committee (Committee) began a strategic planning effort to consider State policies and programs related to distributed generation. The Draft Strategic Plan for Distributed Generation, released by the Committee on May 1, 2002, presents the Committee's vision, mission, and goals on the subject. The Committee will hold a public hearing on May 22, 2002, to receive comments from all interested parties, including representatives of State and local government, utilities, environmental organizations, energy consumers, and the distributed generation industry.

A copy of the Draft Strategic Plan for Distributed Generation can be downloaded from the following Web Site address: www.energy.ca.gov/distgen/strategic/2002-05-01_DRAFT_STRATEGIC.PDF. Alternately, a copy may be obtained from the Energy Commission's Publications Office as Publication No. 700-02-002D.

Following the public hearing and after reviewing comments, the Committee will release a Final Committee report on or about June 5 with the intent on presenting it to the full Commission for possible approval at its June 12, 2002 Business Meeting. A final report will be published and posted on the Web Site once the document is approved.

We appreciate your participation at the hearing. For those interested in filing written comments, the Committee requests that parties submit them to the Energy Commission's docket office by 5 p.m. on May 15, 2002. An original and six sets of written comments should be addressed to the following:
