California's Home Energy Guide offers dozens of energy-wise ideas that you can turn into dollar-saving habits. Some are as simple as turning off lights and appliances when not in use or cleaning the filters in your heating and air conditioning system. You may want to plant a tree or install shade screens on your windows to keep the summer heat from pouring into your home. Even by following just a few suggestions, you'll save energy and cut energy costs.
