In order to provide a smooth transition to the 2001 Standards for subdivisions, the Commission provided an exception on the implementation date of June 1, 2001. The exception allowed compliance documentation from the 1998 standards to be used through December 31, 2001 for building showing compliance using the multiple orientation alternative in Section 151(c) of the standards if compliance documentation was submitted before June 1, 2001. As of January 1, 2002, this exemption is no longer valid. In the months following the adoption of the 2001 standards, several versions of compliance software were approved for use with the new standards. Several of these versions were decertified, but were allowed for use before January 1, 2002.
This notice provides guidance on how to treat compliance documentation after the multiple orientation exemption expires and due to software changes:
- Beginning January 1, 2002, old compliance documentation from 1998 standards on file at building departments is no longer acceptable. Buildings not yet permitted by this date must be resubmitted using currently approved software and fully comply with the 2001 standards.
- Beginning January 1, 2002, no new compliance documentation may be submitted with MICROPAS6 v6.00 or EnergyPro 3.0. Only compliance documentation from currently approved programs may be submitted after this date.
- Existing compliance submittals made with MICROPAS6 v6.00 or EnergyPro 3.0 before January 1, 2002 remain acceptable as long as there are no changes made to energy related features of the building.
Currently approved software includes MICROPAS6 v6.01, EnergyPro 3.1 and CALRES2 v1.4.
