WORKSHOP ON PROCESS EVALUATIONS

See Workshop Documents

California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) decision D.09-08-027 directs the Demand Response Measurement and Evaluation Committee (DRMEC) of the CPUC to conduct an annual public workshop presenting the results of demand response evaluations conducted under the DRMEC's oversight. This is the first of two workshops and will cover demand response program process evaluations.

The California Energy Commission is hosting the meeting in Sacramento for the CPUC committee. It will be held:

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2009
Beginning at 10 a.m.
CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION
1516 Ninth Street
First Floor, Hearing Room A
Sacramento, California

(Wheelchair Accessible)

Purpose

This workshop provides an overview of investor owned utility's demand response program process evaluations conducted by energy consulting companies and commissioned through the CPUC Demand Response Measurement and Evaluation Committee. These process evaluations are used by the utilities to inform and improve marketing outreach strategies, program design and administrative processes of individual demand response programs. A second workshop will be held in early 2010 to review load impact evaluations for the 2009 summer season.

Background

The DRMEC grew out of a working group subcommittee first authorized by the CPUC and later formalized in the demand response proceeding 07-01-041. The committee is composed of representatives from the CPUC, the California Energy Commission, and each of the three investor owned utilities; Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Southern California Edison Company. The DRMEC develops research plans, authorizes and oversees process and load impact evaluations for the three large IOU demand response programs. This is the first of two annual workshops.
