Stakeholders Working Group Meeting

The Natural Gas Stakeholders Working Group will conduct a meeting to discuss current natural gas and related issues affecting California. This meeting is open to all individuals who are interested in natural gas developments.

Purpose

This meeting will encourage an informal dialogue and share energy system perspectives among state agencies and interested stakeholders. Issues that may be discussed include natural gas use, supply availability, transportation infrastructure, and fuel markets.

Agency participants will use the information discussed during the meeting to improve their understanding of California natural gas issues and refine related work agendas for the coming year. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, offer recommendations and express their concerns on current natural gas issues. This is an informal dialogue and not considered to be part of other regulatory or policy proceedings.

Background

The California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) formed the California Natural Gas Stakeholders Working Group during the 2001 energy crisis. Some of the working group participants include: California Air Resources Board; California Public Utilities Commission; Energy Commission; Department of General Services; Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources; Sempra Energy; Southern California Edison; Pacific Gas & Electric; Southern California Gas; State Lands Commission; and others. The Energy Commission chairs this group, which is involved in all aspects of natural gas systems in California. The working group participants will provide briefings on a variety of topics currently affecting California. Additionally, the agencies will be interested in gathering information on concerns and suggestions from the members of the public.
