Nick Bartsch (Project Manager): Nick has over 25 years
of experience in state government, the majority of it as a
non-partisan fiscal and policy analyst for the Legislative
AnalystŐs Office of the California Legislature. For the
last decade, he has worked at the Energy Commission, first
in the Executive Office on fiscal and policy issues as well
as strategic planning and program evaluation. Nick was born
in Hungary and came with his family to the United States as
a refugee, after the Hungarian uprising against Soviet
domination. He grew up in Pennsylvania and Minnesota and
earned Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of
Minnesota in international relations with emphasis on
foreign trade.
Laura Murphy (Executive Assistant): Laura has worked
at the Energy Commission for the past 16 years. She has a
Bachelor's degree in dance and physical education from Utah
State University and was a high school teacher prior to
working at the Commission. Laura, her husband, and two
children enjoy hiking, backpacking, XC skiing, and "working
out."
