****************************************************************** NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CALIFORIA ENERGY COMMISSION ****************************************************************** For Immediate Release: September 10, 1995 CITY OF CLOVERDALE RECEIVES AWARD FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY The City of Cloverdale is one of a select few California cities designated by the Energy Commission to receive an award for "Outstanding Energy Achievement in Local Government." To acknowledge the City's energy efficiency accomplishments, Cloverdale will receive a framed resolution at its City Council meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 1995. The resolution commends Cloverdale for dynamic actions in reducing energy use in city facilities. "Cloverdale perceives the benefits of the energy efficiency program as two-fold -- the savings generated through energy efficient facilities and the upgrades, which illustrate the city's endorsement of energy efficiency in our environment," said Carol Giovanatto, Assistant to Cloverdale's City Manager. Through active participation in the Energy Commission's Energy Partnership Program, Cloverdale maximized energy efficiency by implementing extensive conservation measures at the City Hall, City Hall Annex, Police/Fire Station, and City Park Recreation Hall. From these completed conservation measures: installation of energy efficient light fixtures; new exit signs; exterior compact fluorescent floodlamps and occupancy sensors, Cloverdale will realize an estimated annual energy savings of $4,558 to assist in keeping the city's budget balanced. Michael Sloss, Manager of the Efficiency Services Office, and Eurlyne Geiszler, Project Manager, both of the Energy Efficiency Division, will represent the Energy Commission in making the presentation. # # # For more information, contact: Carol Giovanatto, Assistant to the City Manager, (707) 894-2521; Claudia Chandler, Assistant Executive Director, California Energy Commission, (916) 654-4989.
