****************************************************************** NEWS RELEASE FROM THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION ****************************************************************** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 4, 1995 FREE IRRIGATION WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN WINTERS A coalition of farm support groups will sponsor a free, day-long teaching workshop on agricultural irrigation Tuesday, December 12, at the Community Center in Winters. The first-of-its-kind, introductory workshop will explain how to monitor an irrigation system to insure that it is operating efficiently and effectively. Speakers will include an area farmer; two private irrigation consultants; and one University of California Extension specialist from the UC Davis Department of Land, Air and Water Resources. The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the Yolo County Resource Conservation District, the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts, the California Energy Commission, Community Alliance with Family Farmers, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Advanced registration is required by December 8. Although there is no charge for the workshop, participants can pay $13 for a lunch at the nearby Buckhorn Restaurant.
