Keese, 57, a resident of Graeagle in Plumas County, is currently a self-employed consultant. Most recently, Keese served as Director of Governmental Relations for the California Dental Association from 1981 to January of this year.
After undergraduate work in engineering at Loyola University of Los Angeles, Keese earned a juris doctorate degree from Loyola Law School in 1963.
Keese started his career as a corporate attorney for Signal Oil and Gas Company in 1963, dealing with geotheral energy and general oil issues. Subsequently, he represented 10 major oil companies for five years and the California Solar Energy Industry Association for 12 years.
A republican, Keese is a member of the State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Sacramento Bar Association and the Institute of Governmental Advocates.
The salary for the chairperson is $103,178 per year. This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
