Weekly Diesel Price Report
Benefits Trucking Industry



SACRAMENTO - The California Energy Commission, following a directive from Governor Pete Wilson, will obtain and make available diesel price data specific to California's fuel market for the benefit of the state's trucking industry.

A system to acquire the information has been put in place by the Energy Commission and the research staff of the California Truckers Association. The price data will be made available to the public on Access Energy, the Commission's Internet Web Site at:

www.energy.ca.gov/fuels.html


In a letter to Joel D. Anderson, Vice President of the California Trucking Association, Governor Wilson said the Energy Commission will be providing the weekly diesel price reports on a continuing basis.

"California's trucking industry is critical in maintaining a healthy state economy," Governor Wilson said. "Nearly everything Californians consume moves at some point by truck."

The Governor said timely and accurate information about diesel fuel prices will help truckers "adjust freight and shipping contracts to keep pace with changing market situations."

Information provided in the Commission's Weekly Diesel Price Report include the latest diesel prices in Northern, Central and Southern California; recent CARB diesel average rack wholesale prices; recent CARB diesel spot prices and a fuel watch report of current weekly refinery output and stock levels. The page also provides historical and background information on gasoline and diesel prices and links to other Internet locations on these subjects.
