Community Calendar Announcement

September 8, 1998

Dear Editor / Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may find news of the following meeting appropriate for inclusion.

On July 10, 1998, La Paloma Generating Company filed an Application for Certification (AFC) with the California Energy Commission to construct and operate the La Paloma Generating Project, a 1,048 megawatt natural gas-fired, combined cycle power generating facility. The project is proposed to be located about 40 miles west of Bakersfield, and approximately two miles east of the unincorporated community of McKittrick near the intersection of Reserve and Skyline Roads.

The California Energy Commission staff will conduct a public workshop to discuss and explain data requests and to provide La Paloma and the public an opportunity to ask clarifying questions. The workshop will be held:

THURSDAY, September 17, 1998
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Buttonwillow Lions Club
Second Street
Buttonwillow, Calif.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions during the workshop. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489 or toll free at (800) 822-6228 or e-mail her at rmendonca@energy.state.ca.us
