
On Monday, March 22, 1999, members of the public and other interested parties can learn about the Delta Energy Center in Pittsburg, a proposed power plant project sponsored by the Calpine Corporation and San Francisco-based Bechtel Enterprises Inc.
If approved, the 880 megawatt natural gas-fired cogeneration electric generation facility would be constructed on a 20-acre parcel at the Dow Chemical Company's industrial facility in eastern Contra Costa County. The power plant would be adjacent to the Delta Diablo Sanitation District plant, north of the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway.

The hearing will convene at 4 p.m. and then recess to allow for a site visit during daylight hours. Bus transportation to the site will leave from the East County Boys and Girls Club at 4:30 p.m. Following the site visit, the buses will return to the East County Boys and Girls Club, and the Informational Hearing will reconvene at approximately 6 p.m.
