Renewable Energy Conference Scheduled April 27

A conference on renewable energy will be held in San Francisco, Tuesday, April 27, 1999 to inform business leaders why investing in green power and renewable energy makes business sense.

The event is free and includes lunch.

Titled "Investment in Renewable Energy - Closing the Deal," the conference at The Golden Gate Club will feature speakers familiar with clean, renewable sources of power. Among them are California Energy Commissioner Michal (spelling correct) C. Moore, Jerry Kotas of the United States Department of Energy, Blair Swezey of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Mark Crowds of Green Mountain Energy Resources and Meredith Wingate of the Center for Resource Solutions.

Participants will also hear from executives of businesses that have made the switch to renewable energy, including Jim Cooke of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc., and Michael Bennett of Patagonia, a world-renowned sporting goods company.

For their part, renewable energy providers will discuss ways to determine the type of renewable energy or green product that suits businesses, and give participants pointers on how to take advantage of creative financing ideas.

The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, California Energy Commission, Business for Social Responsibility, Renewable Energy Marketing Board, Center for Resource Solutions, Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

A gathering with a similar theme will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 29.

For conference particulars, please call U.S. DOE at (303) 275-4716.
