GOVERNOR DAVIS APPOINTS MEMBER
TO THE ENERGY COMMISSION
Governor Gray Davis today announced the appointment of Robert Pernell as a member of the Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission.
SACRAMENTO
Pernell, 49, of Sacramento, served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District from 1994 to 1999. He is currently director of research for the California State Council of Laborers Legislative Department. From 1984 to 1990 he served as a business representative for the Local Laborers 185.
Pernell has been active in the Sacramento Valley Toxic Campaign. He also served as a board member of the California Council for Economics and Balance and a member of the Sacramento Water Forum.
Pernell earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from California State University at Sacramento. He also served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970.
Pernell will receive a salary of $98,096 reflecting a five percent reduction as requested by the governor. This position requires Senate confirmation.
