Conference Highlights Research
Benefiting California Energy Consumers

Sacramento -- The California Energy Commission will host Energy Innovations 99 October 25-27, 1999, to share the benefits of its Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program -- the nation's most comprehensive ratepayer-funded environmental and energy technology research endeavor.

The conference at the Hyatt Islandia on San Diego's Mission Bay will give participants the opportunity to meet researchers, investors, public and private officials and other PIER stakeholders.

Breakout sessions will address issues facing public interest research and feature results of projects funded through PIER's annual investment of $62 million to stimulate research benefiting California's energy consumers.

The six program areas of PIER Program research will be covered extensively by experts. These areas are renewable energy technologies, food-agricultural-industrial-water energy efficiency, environmentally-preferred generation, strategic research, building end-use energy efficiency, and energy related environmental research.

Information about the event is available on the California Energy Commission's Web Site at
