Event Highlights Publicly Funded Electricity Research


WHAT:

The three-day Energy Innovations 99 conference. The event highlights California's ratepayer funded public interest energy research program - considered the nation's most comprehensive.

WHEN: Beginning 1 p.m. Monday, October 25, 1999
WHERE: Hyatt Islandia

WHO:

Opening day speakers include Senator Debra Bowen, Chairperson of California's Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee and Assemblyman Roderick Wright, Chair of the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee.

WHY:

The conference will focus on the results and benefits of projects funded under California's Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program. Administered by the California Energy Commission, PIER invests $62 million annually to stimulate research that benefits the State's energy consumers.

Breakout sessions will tackle issues such as renewable energy, energy efficiency in the industrial, building and agricultural sectors, environmentally preferred advanced generation, energy-related environmental research and strategic energy research.
