If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news that the Committee Status Conference regarding the proposed Metcalf Energy Center previously scheduled for TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1999, at the Oak Grove High School, 285 Blossom Hill Road, San Jose, California, has been CANCELLED.,

The Committee designated to conduct proceedings on the Application for Certification for the Metcalf Energy Center has rescheduled this public status conference as follows:

THURSDAY, December 16, 1999
Beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Baldwin Elementary School
Mulitpurpose Room
280 Martinvale Lane
San Jose, California

The location of the meeting is wheelchair accessible

The Metcalf Energy Center is a proposed a 600-megawatt (nominal) power plant located in southern San Jose, California, approximately one-half mile west of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Metcalf substation. The plant will be constructed by Bechtel Enterprises Inc. and run by Calpine Corporation. If approved by the Commission, the project schedule calls for construction to begin in September 2000, with the plant being operational by July 2002.

The project will use two industrial frame combustion gas turbine generators. The combined cycle power plant will be fueled by natural gas from an existing PG&E backbone line located less than one mile from the site. For electrical transmission, the project will interconnect with an existing 230-kilovolt transmission line located less than 500 feet from the project site.
