Fifth Edition of ABCs of AFVs Now Available

Sacramento The fifth edition of the California Energy Commission's ABCs of AFVs is now available to consumers who would like to learn more about alternative fuels and their applications.

The ABCs is a reference source that discusses a variety of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) including those that run on electricity, natural gas and ethanol. It also talks about California's approach to transportation fuels and the role of AFVs in meeting the State's air quality goals.

In a simple, easy to understand text, the publication summarizes the history of AFVs, their transportation applications, different fuel types, different fuel characteristics and existing infrastructure to support AFVs on the road, along with existing supply and pricing and future potential for each type of vehicle.

The publication also includes up-to-date state, federal and air quality management district incentives and Clean Cities information, as well as current vehicle information, manufacturer contacts and web site references.

To receive a copy of The ABCs of AFVs, contact the California Energy Commission's Publications Office at (916) 654-5200 and request publication #500-99-013. It can also be downloaded from the Energy Commission Web Site at:
