Energy Commission Schedules Informational Hearing and Site Visit
to Proposed Western Midway Sunset Power Project

On Monday, April 10, 2000, members of the public and other interested parties can learn about the proposed Western Midway Sunset Power Project in southern Kern County, approximately 40 miles southwest of Bakersfield.

If approved, the 500-megawatt natural gas-fired electricity generation plant would be constructed on an undeveloped 10-acre site next to the existing Western Midway Sunset Cogeneration Company (MSCC) facility. After construction, the proposed project would be incorporated into the MSCC site.

What: Informational hearing and site visit
Who: The hearing is an open meeting where interested members of the public are welcome to participate and ask questions about the project.
When: Monday, April 10, 2000, beginning at 1 p.m.
Where: Taft City Council Chambers

The Informational Hearing will convene at 1 p.m. After the hearing concludes, those interested can travel to the proposed project location. Bus transportation to the site will be available.
