Sacramento- Today assemblyman Dick Dickerson announced that the Mountian Valley Unified School Districy in Trinity County will soon receive a cuts in it's heating and cooling costs at Hayfork High School.

The State Energy Commission granted the School District a $100,000 loan to help thier energy costs. The school districts $100,000 will be paid back at 5.3%. The monies awarded to Mountian Unified will help them upgrade the heating, air conditioning and ventilation system at the High School. It will also allow the district to cut its electricity bill upwards of $16,000 a year.

"This is great news for Hayfork High School. From the energy savings alone, the school can repay the loan in a little over six years," said Assemblyman Dickerson.

Dickerson continiued, "Reduced electricity costs are good news for the district taxpayers. Students will benefit from the classrooms that are more comfortable making the teaching environment more conductive for learning."

The loan from the Energy Commission's Bright Schools program will fund a portion of the energy efficient HVAC replacement.

This is the fifth energy efficiency loan to the district, which has borrowed over $215,600 over the last nine years to cut energy waste at its four schools.

Together all the energy improvements projects are saving the district approximately $44,000 a year on utility bills.
