If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing. The committee overseeing certification for the proposed Elk Hills Power Project will conduct an evidentiary hearing on May 16, 2000. The hearing will proceed into the evening hours as needed in an attempt to complete the hearing in one day. If additional time is needed, however, a continuation date is scheduled for May 30, 2000. All proceedings will be held as follows:

Elk Hills Power, LLC, is proposing to construct and operate a nominally rated 500-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle, electricity-generating facility in Kern County. The proposed plant would be built approximately 25 miles west of the city of Bakersfield in the Elk Hills region. The power plant and related facilities, such as electric transmission lines, a natural gas pipeline, and water lines, are under the California Energy CommissionŐs siting authority.
