Informational Hearing, Site Visit and Workshop
Scheduled on Proposed Warnerville Substation

Sacramento Ń On Friday, November 17, 2000, members of the public and other interested parties will have an opportunity to learn more about the proposed Warnerville Substation Reliability Generation Project.

If approved, the Warnerville Substation Project would be an 86.4-megawatt natural gas-fired, simple cycle, electric generating facility operated to accommodate electrical peak demand through the summer of 2003. The project would be located adjacent to the existing Hetch Hetchy Water and Power Company Warnerville Substation, 3.5 miles southeast of Oakdale on Warnerville Road.

The project applicant, Calpine, is seeking an expedited permitting decision from the Energy Commission under terms of the California Energy Security and Reliability Act. This law provides for a four-month certification process for simple cycle thermal power plants and related facilities that can be put into service by August 1, 2001. The Energy Commission began its four-month review of this project on November 1, 2000.
