December 5, 2000
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearings.
The Committee designated to conduct proceedings on the Application for Certification for the proposed Western Midway Sunset Project will hold evidentiary hearings as follows:
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2000
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2000
(Please note: December 14, is a continuation date only.
There will be no hearing on this date should those matters scheduled
for December 13 be fully concluded)
Beginning at 9:00 a.m.
City of Taft
209 E. Kern St.
Taft, California 93268
These evidentiary hearings will establish the factual record necessary for the Commission to reach a decision on the proposed project. The record is developed by the presentation of oral and written testimony, as well as documentary evidence submitted by the parties. Evidentiary hearings are more structured than the informal workshops and Committee Conferences that have already occurred.
The proposed 500-megawatt natural gas-fired electricity generation plant would be constructed on an undeveloped 10-acre site next to the existing Western Midway Sunset Cogeneration Company (MSCC) facility. After construction, the proposed project would be incorporated into the MSCC site.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment during the hearings. For more information on how to participate, contact the Energy Commission's Public Adviser, Roberta Mendonca, at (916) 654-4489, toll free at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at email@example.com
