If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing.
The Committee designated to conduct proceedings on the proposed Metcalf Energy Center has scheduled a public hearing as follows:
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2001
Beginning at 3:00 p.m.
CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION
First Floor Hearing Room A
1516 Ninth Street
The location of the meeting is wheelchair accessible
The Committee will discuss and hear arguments on the matters raised in the Interlocutory Appeal filed by intervenors in light of additional data and information provided by the applicant. Matters of concern will be to what extent, if any, has the substantive basis of the appeal been rendered moot by the applicant's response and the effect of the Committee ruling upon other siting cases.
Calpine Corporation and Bechtel Enterprises, Inc. (Calpine/Bechtel) jointly are proposing to develop the Metcalf Energy Center, a 600-megawatt, natural gas–fired, combined cycle power plant. The proposed site lies at the southern base of Tulare Hill in northern Coyote Valley of south San Jose to the west of Monterey Highway and south of the Metcalf Road intersection. The site is bordered by Fisher Creek to the north and west and the Union Pacific Railroad right–of–way to the east. Blanchard Road is to the south.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions during the hearing. Persons requiring information on how to participate in the Energy Commission's review of the proposed project should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Energy Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
