Community Calendar Announcement

January 3, 2001

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

Energy Commission staff has scheduled a workshop to discuss the proposed Hanford Energy Park Project. The workshop will be held as follows:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2001
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
City of Hanford
315 North Douty Street
West Wing
Hanford, CA
(Wheelchair Accessible)

This workshop is being held so that the applicant's representatives, interested agencies, and the public can discuss the staff's Draft Initial Study. Topic areas will include: air quality, aesthetics, biological and cultural resources, energy resources, geology and soils, hazardous materials and waste, hydrology and water resources, land and agricultural use, noise, public health, socioeconomics, traffic and transportation, transmission line safety and transmission system engineering.

The proposed Hanford Energy Project is a 98.7-megawatt natural gas-fired, combined cycle electric generating facility to be located on a 10-acre site in Kings Industrial Park, on the southern border of Hanford, immediately adjacent to an existing GWF cogeneration plant.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions during the workshop. For more information on how to participate, contact the Energy Commission's Public Adviser, Roberta Mendonca, at (916) 654-4489, toll free at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at: pao@energy.state.ca.us.
