Community Calendar Announcement

February 28, 2001

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following hearing.

The Committee designated to conduct proceedings on the proposed Three Mountain Power Project has scheduled an evidentiary hearing as follows:

TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 2001
1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Hearing Room A
California Energy Commission
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Evidentiary hearings are held to establish the factual record necessary for the Commission to reach a decision on the proposed project. The record is developed by the presentation of oral and written testimony, as well as documentary evidence, submitted by the parties. Evidentiary hearings are more structured than the informal workshops and committee conferences that have already occurred.

The Three Mountain Power Project is a 500–megawatt (MW), natural gas–fired, combined cycle power plant proposed by Three Mountain Power, Limited Liability Company, to be constructed in northeastern Shasta County, approximately one mile northeast of Burney and 45 miles east of Redding.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and ask questions during the hearing. Persons requiring information on how to participate in the Energy Commission's review of the proposed project should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Energy Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at pao@energy.state.ca.us.
