Community Calendar Announcement

August 30, 2001

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

The staff of the California Energy Commission will hold a data response and issues resolution workshop on the proposed East Altamont Energy Center as follows:

Livermore-Pleasanton B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 2117
940 Larkspur Drive
Livermore, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

The purpose of this workshop is to discuss data reponses from the applicant related to the project, discuss other significant issues that have been identified by staff, and to accept public comment on the proposed project. Topics will include air quality, alternatives, biological resources, cultural resources, hazardous materials management, land use, noise, soil and water resources, traffic and transportation, transmission system engineering, and visual resources.

The East Altamont Energy Center, proposed by East Altamont Energy Center LLC, is a 1,100-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle facility. It would be built on a 174-acre parcel located approximately 1 mile west of the San Joaquin County line and 1 mile southeast of the Contra Costa County line.

Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to participate in the workshop. Time will be reserved to allow members of the public to comment. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at pao@energy.state.ca.us.
