Community Calendar Announcement

November 7, 2001

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following conference.

The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed East Altamont Energy Center will hold a scheduling conference as follows:

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2001
Beginning at 10 a.m.
First Floor Hearing Room A
California Energy Commission
1516 Ninth Street
Sacramento, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

Teleconference: 1-888-809-8971
Passcode: East Altamont

This scheduling conference will provide a public forum allowing Applicant, Commission staff, interested parties, governmental agencies, and members of the public to indicate whether case development is progressing satisfactorily. Participants may bring any further potential schedule delays or other relevant matters to the Committee's attention.

The East Altamont Energy Center, proposed by East Altamont Energy Center LLC, is a 1,100-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle facility. It would be built on a 174-acre parcel located approximately 1 mile west of the San Joaquin County line and 1 mile southeast of the Contra Costa County line.

Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to participate in the workshop. Time will be reserved to allow members of the public to comment. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at pao@energy.state.ca.us.
