November 7, 2001
If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.
Energy Commission staff and Western Area Power Administration will conduct a public workshop and scoping meeting to discuss the proposed East Altamont Energy Center as follows:
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2001
6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Livermore-Pleasanton B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #2117
940 Larkspur Drive
The workshop is being held so that the Energy Commission and Western can gather input from the public on Calpine's Application for Certification to construct the East Altamont Energy Center. The meeting will help Western determine the scope of issues to be addressed in their environmental analysis of the project.
The East Altamont Energy Center, proposed by East Altamont Energy Center LLC, is a 1,100-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle facility. It would be built on a 174-acre parcel located approximately 1 mile west of the San Joaquin County line and 1 mile southeast of the Contra Costa County line.
Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to participate in the workshop. Time will be reserved to allow members of the public to comment. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
