Community Calendar Announcement

January 18, 2002

Dear Editor/Publisher:

If your publication, radio or television station offers a calendar of community events, you may want to include news of the following workshop.

Energy Commission staff will conduct a staff assessment workshop to discuss the proposed Magnolia Power Plant Project as follows:

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2002
9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Burbank Central Library Auditorium
110 North Glenoaks Boulevard
Burbank, California
(Wheelchair Accessible)

The workshop is being held to discuss the recently released Staff Assessment and to discuss the following topics: air quality, biological resources, land use, traffic and transportation, transmission system engineering, visual resources, soil and water resources, worker safety and fire protection.

Proposed by Southern California Public Power Authority, the Magnolia Power Plant would be a 250-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined cycle power facility located at the existing 23-acre site of the Magnolia Power Station in the City of Burbank.

Members of the public and interested agencies are invited to participate in the workshop. Time will be reserved to allow members of the public to comment. Those who wish further information about how to participate should contact Roberta Mendonca, the Commission's Public Adviser, at (916) 654-4489, toll free in California at (800) 822-6228, or by e-mail at [pao@energy.state.ca.us].
