Energy Commission Schedules Informational Hearing
and Site Visit to Proposed Avenal Power Plant
Sacramento - On Monday, January 28, members
of the public and other interested parties will have
an opportunity to learn more about a 600-megawatt
power plant proposed by Duke Energy Avenal, LLC.
If approved, the plant would be built on 25 acres
of a 148-acre site located in the agricultural region
of the San Joaquin Valley, just south of the Fresno
County line. The Avenal Energy Project will be a combined
cycle generating plant consisting of two natural gas-fired
turbines and one steam turbine.
